Account deletion

Delete your Maktub account

You can request deletion of your Maktub account and associated personal data at any time. This page explains how to do that in the app, what happens next, and how to cancel if you change your mind.

1. Delete your account in the app

The fastest way to request deletion is from the Maktub app:

  1. Open the Maktub app and sign in with the account you want to delete.
  2. Go to the Settings tab.
  3. Scroll to the Danger zone section at the bottom.
  4. Tap Delete account.
  5. Read the summary, type DELETE to confirm, then tap Delete my account.

We send a confirmation email to the address on your account as soon as deletion is scheduled.

2. What happens when you delete

When you confirm deletion:

  • Your profile and photos are hidden immediately.
  • You are signed out on all devices.
  • Your account is scheduled for permanent deletion after 30 days.
  • During those 30 days you cannot use the app normally, but you can still restore your account (see below).
  • After 30 days, your account and associated data are permanently removed from our active systems. We send a final confirmation email when that is complete.

3. What data is deleted

When your account is permanently deleted, we remove data linked to your account, including:

  • Your profile, preferences, and account settings
  • Profile photos and voice notes
  • Salaams, matches, and conversations
  • Notification preferences and device push tokens
  • Your email address and authentication records

Some information may be retained for a limited time where required by law (for example fraud prevention or accounting records). Server logs are retained for up to 30 days regardless of account status. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

4. Changed your mind? Restore your account

If you deleted your account by mistake, you can restore it during the 30-day grace period:

  1. Open the Maktub app and sign in again with the same email address.
  2. When prompted, choose to keep your account.

If you cannot sign in, email us at info@getmaktub.app from the address on your account before the deletion date shown in your confirmation email.

5. Can't access the app?

If you no longer have access to the app or cannot sign in, you can still request deletion by email. Send a message to info@getmaktub.app from the email address registered on your Maktub account with the subject line Account deletion request.

We may ask you to verify your identity before processing the request. Once verified, we follow the same 30-day deletion process described above.
