Why start locally?
Large global apps can show impressive membership numbers while still offering few relevant introductions nearby. Maktub begins with Dutch cities and provinces so geography is treated as a real compatibility constraint rather than an afterthought.
Local focus also makes community learning more practical. We can listen to Dutch Muslim singles, families, converts, mosques, and professionals before expanding the product to places with different needs.
Designed for serious Muslim singles
Maktub is intended for adults seeking marriage. It combines profiles covering deen, family, lifestyle, location, and timeline with a limited introduction model. Photos remain blurred until mutual interest and conversation begins only after both people send a Salaam.
The founding cohort is designed to build density carefully. Joining the waitlist does not guarantee access or a launch date, but it helps us understand demand across the Netherlands.
Cities and provinces, not distance tracking
Profiles use validated Dutch locations and regional matching. Maktub does not need to track a person’s live GPS location to suggest people in the same part of the country.
We are not creating thin pages for every city before there is useful local information to publish. As the community grows, city resources should include real community context—not repeated text with a city name swapped in.
It is written.
Maktub is a Netherlands-first Muslim marriage app built around local introductions, serious intentions, privacy, and compatibility.
